Connections and AlliancesHuman migration in North and Central America does not begin or end at national borders. The root causes of migration can be traced to inter-related problems such as lack of economic opportunities, agricultural price collapse, environmental degradation, human rights violations, etc. More and more, these problems are associated with the implementation of current models of regional integration, trade, and economic development. In order to respond to this matrix of issues, civil society groups throughout the region must use wholistic, cross-border, cross-sectoral analysis and strategies. Additionally, impacted communities must play a protagonist role in the process of identifying problems with current policy models and articulating alternatives to them. Based on these premises, Enlaces América worked
to strengthen civil society linkages by facilitating collaboration between
migrant-led organizations and a range of partner civil society actors
in the U.S. and throughout the region.
Enlaces América's core programming around building alliances and civil society linkages will be taken up by the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities (NALACC).Connect to the NALACC website. |
